Híbrido de Timor

Also Timor Hybrid, HdT, HDT, Tim Tim

The Timor Hybrid is a spontaneous arabica x canephora hybrid found on Timor that is fertile with arabica and carries robusta-derived rust resistance genes (SH6 to SH9) plus the arabica gene SH5. Seed lots collected in Timor and numbered 832/1, 832/2 and 1343 were multiplied at the CIFC rust centre in Portugal and distributed worldwide; crossing them with Caturra, Villa Sarchí and Catuaí produced the Catimor, Sarchimor, Colombia and Brazilian resistant populations. Accession 1343 also carries coffee berry disease resistance. In Sumatra the hybrid itself is grown as 'Tim Tim'.

Natural C. canephora x C. arabica hybrid; sources differ on discovery date (1927 in Nature Genetics and the cytogenetic literature; 1940s in Cenicafé's guide). Carries SH5 plus canephora-derived SH6-SH9; HdT 1343 carries the Ck-1 (T) gene for CBD resistance.
