Catuaí

Also Catuaí Vermelho, Catuaí Amarelo, Catuai

Catuaí is IAC's cross of the dwarf Caturra with the vigorous Mundo Novo. It keeps Caturra's compact stature but with slightly more height and canopy width, strong vegetative vigour and good uniformity, and it exists in red- and yellow-fruited lines (IAC 144, IAC 99, IAC 62 and others). It is one of the two dominant Brazilian cultivars and is widely planted in Central America. It is rust-susceptible; Catuaí x Timor Hybrid crosses in Brazil are a further source of resistant lines.
