Mundo Novo

Mundo Novo is a natural Typica x Bourbon cross found in São Paulo state and selected by IAC for vigour and high production. It is tall, strongly branched and large-leaved, and together with Catuaí it long accounted for most of Brazil's arabica area. It carries no rust resistance. Brazil's Tupi, Obatã and IPR lines all use Mundo Novo or its offspring Catuaí as the agronomic parent.
