Honduras
Honduras is Central America's largest producer, with more than 100,000 mostly small farming families spread across six IHCAFE-defined regions. A late-1990s export levy funded roads and extension, and the national institute IHCAFE runs regional cupping labs and has bred rust-resistant varieties. Honduras holds Central America's first legally recognised coffee denomination of origin, Café Marcala (2005).

Character and protected names
Flavour tendencies
Honduran coffees are often described as mild, sweet and nutty with a heavier body and gentler acidity than their neighbours, though high-altitude lots from Marcala and El Paraíso can show more fruit.
General tendencies from importer origin notes, not a promise about any lot. The claims behind them are listed with their sources at the foot of the page.
