Centroamericano (H1)

Also H1, Centroamérica, Centroamericano

Centroamericano, also called H1, is the best-known of the Central American F1 hybrids bred since the 1990s by CIRAD, CATIE and the PROMECAFE network by crossing wild Ethiopian or Sudanese arabica with introgressed dwarf lines. It is clonally propagated by somatic embryogenesis, combines rust resistance with yields well above the Caturra and Catuaí checks, and was one of the two F1 hybrids that out-performed 30 pure-line cultivars for yield and rust resistance in a 29-site, 18-country trial.
