Sudan Rume

Also Rume Sudan

Sudan Rume comes from the wild arabica of the Boma Plateau in what is now South Sudan, collected in the early 1940s. It is important less as a crop than as a parent: it carries the R gene (Ck-2/Ck-3) for coffee berry disease resistance used in Kenya's Ruiru 11 and Batian, and its cup quality made it the Ethiopian-side parent of the Centroamericano F1 hybrid. Trees are low-yielding, which limits direct planting to small specialty plots.
