S.795

Also S795, Sln.795, Selection 795, Jember

S.795 is India's most planted arabica, released in the 1940s from a cross of the natural arabica-liberica hybrid S.288 with Kent. The Coffee Board credits it with high yields, bold beans, superior quality and partial tolerance to leaf rust; the tolerance rests on the SH3 gene introgressed from Coffea liberica, for which molecular markers have been developed. Under the name Jember it became a major variety in Indonesia and it is also grown in Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea.
