Kent

Also Kents, Kent's

Kent is the earliest named arabica selection in India, picked out by an English planter of that name in the 1920s because it was less hit by leaf rust than the Coorg Typica around it. The Coffee Board describes it as popular until the 1940s and still prized for its cup. Its resistance, later attributed to the SH2 gene, was the first effective rust-resistance selection anywhere and was carried into S.795 and, as 'Kents', into Tanzania's KP423.
