Maragogipe

Also Maragogype, Elephant bean

Maragogipe is a Typica mutation from Bahia, Brazil, famous for the largest seeds in cultivated arabica. The trees are tall with very large, drooping, heart-shaped leaves whose tips often fold over, and yields are low. It used to be grown in Colombia but has largely disappeared from intensive farming there. Its large-bean gene passed into Pacamara and Maracaturra.
