Slayer Espresso

Slayer has designed and built espresso machines in the Seattle area since 2007, introducing the needle-valve flow control that let baristas slow pre-infusion and started the pressure-profiling trend in cafés. Founder Jason Prefontaine stayed on as CEO when Gruppo Cimbali took a controlling stake in November 2017, and the company, legally Seattle Espresso Machine Corporation, is now headquartered in Renton. Its Steam line brought the same approach to high-volume milk drinks and a Mazzer partnership produced a co-branded grinder.
