Nyasaland

Also Bugisu local, Bugishu

Nyasaland is the old Typica-type arabica introduced to Uganda's Mount Elgon region from Malawi (then Nyasaland); on the mountain it is simply called Bugisu or Bugishu. It is tall, low-yielding and unprotected against rust and berry disease, and it survives because of its cup and its place in local seed systems. No breeder description was retrieved, so ratings beyond stature are left open.
