Ethiopian landraces ('heirloom')
Also Ethiopian heirloom, Core Ethiopia, regional landraces
'Heirloom' is a trade label for the uncatalogued local arabica populations grown across Ethiopia's forest, semi-forest and garden coffee systems, the species' centre of origin. Genetically they form a 'Core Ethiopia' group distinct from the narrow Yemeni-derived Typica and Bourbon lineages, and they keep the open, vigorous, long-internode canopy of the wild type. Named local landraces (Kurume, Wolisho, Dega and others) and JARC's numbered selections are drawn from this pool.

Lineage
Wild and semi-wild populations in south-west Ethiopia and South Sudan are the primary centre of diversity; cultivated Typica/Bourbon trace to a Yemeni bottleneck.
