A 3 m counter, to scale

Add equipment and it lands on the bar at its published width and depth. Drag tiles along the counter. The meter adds up current against a typical 30 A circuit; the list prints for an electrician or a supplier.

Seen from above at true scale: tile width and depth are each model's published footprint. A dashed tile has no published footprint and stands at 40 × 40 cm.

Throughput

Rule of thumb 60 drinks a group an hour is a planning assumption, not a published figure: about one drink a minute from each group, kept up through the peak by one barista per group. Change it to suit your menu and your team. Where a machine's maker publishes its hourly output, the sizer uses that instead.

Add an espresso machine to check the bar against the peak.

The list fills as you add equipment.

Current comes from the maker's published amperage; where only power and voltage are published it is derived at the lowest published voltage (marked d), the worst case for the circuit. A 30 A circuit is a common North American branch circuit for a two-group machine; check the maker's installation guide and local code with a licensed electrician. Figures are each maker's own, read on the dates shown on the model pages.
