Certification
Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC)
Regenerative Organic Certified was established in 2017 by the Regenerative Organic Alliance as an add-on to organic certification that also scores soil health, animal welfare and social fairness. It is new to coffee but used by a few roasters sourcing from regenerative organic farms. Its bronze, silver and gold levels are meant to reward continuous improvement.

What it requires
In this atlas's own wordsProducts must first hold USDA Organic (or an approved equivalent) and appear on a current organic certificate, then meet additional requirements under three pillars: soil health and land management, animal welfare, and farmer and farmworker fairness (including living wages, freedom of association and no forced labour). Certification has three levels, bronze, silver and gold, and everyone starts at bronze. Brands that use ROC ingredients sign a licence with the ROA.
