A claim, not a certification
Direct Trade (not a certification)
Direct trade describes a relationship-sourcing model popularised by US specialty roasters in the 2000s rather than a certification. Claims cannot be verified against a register, so the site records them as the roaster's own statement and never as a certified status.

In this atlas's own wordsThere is no third-party standard. 'Direct trade' is a self-declared sourcing claim by individual roasters, usually meaning they buy from identified producers, visit farms and pay above-market prices, but each roaster defines the terms itself and nobody audits them.
