Loring Smart Roast
Loring Smart Roast grew out of Mark Loring Ludwig's frustration, while running a Northern California coffee-packaging business in 1998, with roasters that treated smoke, energy and control as separate problems. His single-burner design recirculates roasting air through an integrated burner that doubles as afterburner, cutting fuel use and emissions, and the S-series from the 7 kg Nighthawk to the 70 kg Peregrine became the preferred roaster of many specialty companies. The company builds its machines in California.
